Founded in December 2020 as a small boutique salon in Augustine Heights, What the Pup began as the passion project of owner Jamie - a dog lover first and a dog groomer second. Built on a genuine love for dogs and a commitment to providing positive grooming experiences, What the Pup has continued to grow alongside its loyal community of clients.
Now located at Orion Springfield Central, we have expanded into a larger grooming facility with a growing team, increased appointment availability, and a dedicated doggy day care centre, allowing us to care for even more dogs while maintaining the personalised approach that has always been at the heart of what we do.
At What the Pup, our passion extends far beyond making your pup look their best - we're dedicated to supporting their overall health, wellness and happiness through personalised care that considers their individual needs. With years of grooming experience and a genuine love for dogs, we believe every visit should be more than simply a grooming appointment - it should be a positive and enriching experience that contributes to your dog's quality of life. We place a strong focus on coat, skin and nail health, using premium products carefully selected to nourish, protect and maintain your dog's wellbeing. Whether your pup is visiting for a bath, full groom, day care session or participating in our enrichment activities, our goal is to provide a gentle, fear-free environment where they feel safe, comfortable and cared for.
Our commitment to your pet doesn't end when they leave our salon. We are equally passionate about supporting owners with the knowledge and guidance to maintain their dog's health and grooming routine between visits. From coat care advice to sharing observations about changes in your pup's behaviour or physical condition, we strive to be a trusted partner in your pet's care journey.

Thank you so much for taking such good care of my little Maltese, Rosie. She looked absolutely gorgeous when I picked her up. She was pampered to a full groom with nails even beautifully shaped and even had a pretty little pink bow. What the Pup are just wonderful. They care about your pets and would never put them through anything to upset them. I love how they take time for each groom (no rush) to prioritise pet wellbeing. They will update me on how my dogs went and notify me if they didn't complete any treatments based on how they reacted (e.g. one of them was very fearful with nail filing). I would take that any day over the dogs having a traumatic experience! Lovely fear-free grooming by amazing staff who love and care for their clients.

I was regularly making the drive to a different groomer in Ipswich who I wasn't happy with, now that I have found What the Pup, I have been so much happier with how my dog looks after his groom! Jamie is amazing, always has such good attention to detail and my dog loves going to see her. I am so glad I have finally found a good groomer, I have recommended Jamie to family and friends! It's great that there is finally a groomer in the area that does large dogs. 10/10 would highly recommend!

This place is excellent! I took my 4 year old Golden Retriever there for the first time after he had become quite matted following a stay at a kennel. The girls were all lovely and super helpful, and they did an amazing job on Harley, he looks so good! Cannot recommend highly enough!
